In Television's Marquee Moon, Tom Verlaine's lyrics evoke what psychologists call Sensory Hypersensitivity - the key to an overlooked part of human creativity
So interesting. I had a guest DJ with me at the Boardwalk in about 1994, a German fella, who spent half an hour adjusting the decks, he kept saying "Can't you hear that?" and "That's not right". Yes, the speed, bits of feedback, etc etc. Last year I met someone who knows him well and I brought this up and she explained he had been diagnosed as autistic just after I'd met him.
I teach children with autism and am currently on a two day course about hyper and hypo sensitivity! I'll be bringing up this article in the workshops tomorrow.
Hi Jim, is this workshop in the United Kingdom? Let me know ASAP. I live in the United States, so I could check on my evidence-based research on this topic ( it is 2:00 PM IN New York State.
Is there information that you need in regarding sensory processing disorders in children with autism? I have worked extensively with autistic children through early intervention programs. Is there additional information that you need? I am a member of The American Occupational Therapy Association.
I love hearing about Marquee Moon. I don't love hearing about Baron-Cohen...

It is in the UK I'm afraid. It's run by an American organisation though, it's about TEACCH run by the University of North Carolina.

Thank you for the offer, I'm very lucky to work at a school with an in house sensory occupational therapist!
